Neutralizing the PH of a paste?

Okay so actually it's a pulp that I want to neuatralize the PH of if possible, used for papier mache, and it's made out of water, newspaper and wallpaper adhesive. I was wondering, because I know newspaper (printed) is acidic, if there is anything I could add to it to neutralize or lower the ph level so that it will last longer.
