If SOME Christians "love" gays but are against gay marriage, why would they be against hate crimes legislation?

I don't hate anyone,I just hate they way some people can be about things,so I do hate the sin,but our battle is not with flesh and blood,but with principalities.I hate evil,but I don't wish anyone to go through any pain.We are all humans and we should all be treated with respect.I admit some people can really get on my nerves,but that does not make me hate them.
